When was the last time you intentionally set aside some time to think about how you could be better at what you do? Athletes spend years preparing for their competitions. They often work with a coach to put a strategy together so that they can perform at their best when it matters. Now I’m not saying that the only thing that God cares about is our performance but it is important that we spend the time and effort to be as good as we can be. God gives us many opportunities to learn but it is up to us to be intentional about seeking and understanding what it is that God is trying to teach us. Truthfully our training for our upcoming mission started years ago. It started with saying yes to the things that God was asking us to do. Yes to taking time to read the bible, yes to taking on more ministry responsibility outside our comfort zone, yes to sharing God’s love with our neighbours. The more you say yes to God in the little things the more prepared you will be when the large opportunity comes along.
This week we have a large learning opportunity. We are in LA for 1 week intensive Missions Orientation Training to prepare our hearts and a plan so that we are better prepared for what God wants to do when we head to Estonia. We’ve investing time by defining our Core Values, Vision statements, Ministry proposals on how we believe God is calling us to reach Haapsalu with the message of his love. This has come at a cost, of time spent, money for flights and registration, leaving our children for a week (we really do miss them), but we believe this is worth it to be at our best. If you’d like to help with this or our other fundraising costs you can head over to our donation page.
I’ll leave you with some questions to reflect on:
- What opportunity, big or small is God presenting you with?
- What do you need to say yes to?
- What is holding you back?
Say yes and God will not let you down.
